Kevin Driscoll Has Been Found Innocent!
Kevin Driscoll, the Redmond, Oregon man who was arrested and tried TWICE on a stunningly flimsy rape charge, has been found innocent by the jury in Deschutes County Circuit Court, Bend, Oregon, USA.
Below, I link you to a five-minute YouTube video by Bernard Chapin, who happily shares the happy news. You will enjoy hearing about the hugs and handshakes which the falsely rape-accused Kevin received from the jury -- followed by an invitation to lunch! Such behavior by a jury, it seems, is quite unusual:

In addition, I share the following e-mail which I got from a friend of Kevin, which tells a bit more than what is in the video:
[Note: it has just been pointed out to me, that the word in the "perplexing" passage above is than rather than that -- which renders the passage lucid. I guess I should learn to read more carefully.]
Meanwhile, for those who know nothing about any of this, the following will link you to nearly all the blog posts which I wrote when I was covering Kevin's original trial in late 2009:

I admit that the final sentence in the message perplexes me: "unable to say anymore" that he is a free man? And what on earth is Jody Vaughan up to? What could she be up to? I reckon that will become clear in time."Kevin was found innocent today. 11-1 on 5 of 6 charges, and unanimous on the attempted sodomy charge. He is a free man!!"I have been writing his story and about this trial, but was just informed by the attorney that Jody Vaughn is out to get Kevin. She has not finished the torment or torture of him. I do not know what she has up her sleeve or plans to do, but at this point I am unable to say anymore than HE IS A FREE MAN!!!"

This is wonderful news Fidelbogen.
As much as I enjoy reading your writing, as I do a number of men's rights writers, I believe your involvement in the Kevin Driscoll case was your finest online hour. It put you in another league.
Even the mainstream media acknowledged the effect of bloggers here
. Although not specifically naming anyone, for those that followed this case it may well have been Angry Harry who turned our attention toward it, but it was you we looked to for daily updates.
Splendid work.
Reading through the comments I also learned that D.A. Mike Dugan lost his job last May. Clearly, the locals didn't think that highly of his performance either.
The handshakes, hugs and invitation to lunch from the jurors (after 1 hour of deliberation!) are extraordinary. I've never heard of this before - and is all the more remarkable for someone charged with rape. I wonder if such an outpouring of goodwill suggests something more than simply the recognition of innocence, but also a huge sense of relief - a triumph of rational judgment over the relentless hysterical emoting of the past decades.
"I admit that the final sentence in the message perplexes me: "unable to say anymore" that he is a free man?"
I read it that way at first too, but it actually says THAN he is a free man.
So, it seems he IS a free man, but the misandrist still wants to 'get' him.
Despite his near-unanimous not guilty verdict.
Just shows you how their minds work, doesn't it? Men are not entitled to be innocent of crimes they are accused of.
I'm perplexed as to what she possibly thinks she could do to him now that he has been acquitted of all charges. I'm also perplexed as to why she doesn't get on with her life and prosecute actual criminals. That would seem to be a more worthy cause than continuing to pursue an INNOCENT man who has been found not guilty.
@Anon2:03:
It sounds like the notoriety of the case has made the rounds in the community in the roughly 21 months since Kevin Driscoll was first arrested. I think that our little cyberspace media blitz may have had more long-term effect than anybody can calculate, and that the jury was already "primed" with the clear facts of the case which the media was not talking about.
"Although not specifically naming anyone, for those that followed this case it may well have been Angry Harry who turned our attention toward it, but it was you we looked to for daily updates."
I talked to the Bend Bulletin reporter Cindy Powers, and if I had consented to give out my *real* name, I would have been mentioned in print along with the name of my blog. I'm pretty sure I am the only blogger Cindy Powers interviewed.

And here I thought I was never going to hear about this guy ever again.
Thanks for posting this.
OK Fidelbogen. I am back.
And - here is an excellent question for you:
The rape shield laws and VAWA, as well as no anonymity for those accused of rape are all ideals of feminism correct?
What rights would you give to men to prevent things like this from happening?
Do those rights already exist in theory?
And - to that other anon - this is not an attack - this is curiousity - with a pinch of anger mixed in, as it seems to me that the mrm is getting people off track. AND - that is JUST my humble opinion.
...way to eager to fight - even those who are not their enemies...
...what does this say...

"The rape shield laws and VAWA, as well as no anonymity for those accused of rape are all ideals of feminism correct?"
Correct.
"What rights would you give to men to prevent things like this from happening?". . .Do those rights already exist in theory?
That is an excellent question. DO they exist "in theory"? I guess that depends on who you talk to. And it also depends on how you manipulate the semantics of the term "rights".
I would manipulate it this way: Is it RIGHT that men should suffer these things? And if you say it is WRONG. . then would you admit that men have a "right" to NOT suffer these things?
And if you were to say it is RIGHT for men to suffer these things, then would you say that men have no "right" to NOT suffer these things?
That is how I do my thinking about the business of 'rights'.
I would ALSO look to various documents (such as the U.S. constitution) and see if these specify any rights UNDER LAW, and then figure out if those enacted rights have been violated by any particular legislation or policy.
That TOO, is how I do my thinking about "rights".
Have I shed any light upon your concerns yet? Please let me know. . .
