Looking in New Directions: A Quick Outline

If we are to rebuild the NFR (non-feminist revolution) from the ground up, and make it into something politically efficient, how might we go about this? A quick brainstorming session brought the following points to mind, and I share these for what they are worth.

  1. Use a "great game" strategy; take the mountain-top view.
  2. Grow a disciplined vanguard -- or cadre --that will spread through many sectors and see to a coordination of effects.
  3. Recruit members in every possible industry, profession, social stratum, culture, religion, walk of life, and so on.
  4. Have international reach.
  5. Be "everywhere yet nowhere", in order to present no clear profile. In other words, "we" must present no clear "we".
  6. Understand the proliferation of sectarian "flavors" as a strength rather than a weakness.
  7. Practice the art of rhetorical discipline, and develop it further.
  8. Eschew excess political baggage and extraneous agendas.
  9. Grow a discursive culture that is inwardly rich, outwardly subtle, and endowed with all needful discretion.
  10. Salvage the wisdom of the past, and jettison the mistakes.
  11. Use a fluid, organic, cellular style of organization. Regimentation is not good.
  12. Think globally and act locally.
  13. Be flexible and innovative; adapt to conditions "on the ground".
  14. As individuals, take an interest in our spiritual and intellectual growth.

You know I pondered some more on the things you said, and I think I got it.

I think I get "transcending the MRA".

You know what I realized? As sad is it to say this - one video by "the amazing atheist" on youtube has had MORE counter-feminist impact than all of the MRA combined.

I don't want to admit this, but it happens to be true.

I thought about it some more, and this is for two reasons. First because he does not carry the label of "anti-feminist" or "mra" but an all around internet personality or ranter... he gets a lot more attention and eye-balls.

Secondly, him bashing feminism carries more weight with the ordinary individual, becomes it's coming from a general "wise-ass commentator", as opposed to coming from a "mra".

Now, I'm not saying we need to become "youtube ranters"... but being a generalized entity that is recognized as WISE on many fronts - will A) get more eyeballs B) when he speaks out against feminism, his voice is seen as the voice of the everyman.

I don't know if I'm even capturing well what I'm saying, but this is my idea of transcending MRA. This is where I am going. Oddly enough, making counter-feminism a smaller-part of one's repertoire, makes it more powerful, and not just for the reasons that you can't be pegged.

For me specifically, my long term goal is to become a sort of a recognized skeptic... A myth-busters type fella...

Someone who rips apart bullshit, mythologies and ideologies... I wouldn't be an MRA, I would be a myth-buster who just happens to be a non-feminist...

Think "penn&teller" if you will. Speaking of those two guys, they did several episodes ripping apart feminists, and sad to say, those episodes probably had more effect than most of the MRm...

Myth buster isn't the only option... Another option is "destroyer of special interest groups"... Where you run an organization tackling down laws and legislation catering to special interests... And what data know, quite often it happens to be feminist legislation lol...

In fact, from what I've seen the highest profile anti-feminist cases in court have been from libertarian groups and think tanks who just sue states, universities etc...

@Alek:

The trouble with "MRM" is that, for better or worse, it has become a "brand".

Rather than a purely political set of ideas, it is "branded", in the mind of the broad public, with the personalities of the persons rightly or wrongly associated with it.

Talk about mixing the personal with the political.

But we need to understand that the broad mass of people are not so bright. Crowd psychology is well enough understood, after all. And crowds (masses) are emotional creatures.

As I tried to make clear in a recent post, not only is MRA/MRM branded in a certain way (like it or not), but by a sneaky process every tendency of a purely counter-feminist nature is stuck with that very same brand itself.

MRA/MRM has come untethered, and fastens itself to nearly anything which purports to be against feminism, or even seems to be so. . .

Whether that "something" labels itself MRA/MRM, or not.

And as I have explained, this all traces back to lack of planning in the early stages.

What's needed is discipline without regimentation.

And organic growth without chaos.

Good ideas you have presented in your 2nd comment.

However. . . I would still make a place in this scheme of things for people who are vocally against feminism in a narrow manner.

They too, have a role to play.

But of course. It's a multi-front attack. There's a need for direct narrow-attackers too.

Also...

They would be the ones doing the research, crunching the data and being the *core*.

They don't have to be the public face though. Narrow counter-feminists would do the "crunch work", but they wouldn't be market-able.

If anything, they would serve as the factory that produces ammunition for the wider-band-public-faced counter feminists.

Yes, but that is only one part of what they would do. They would also serve as good old rip-roaring agitators -- rhetorically disciplined ones, of course.

As you know, they would not be mass-marketable. But that's all right, because they would have a powerful ripple effect in a completely different way.

Well, I must get back to editing a vid which I hope to post by day's end.

Here is my suggestion.

When ever we encounter a male feminist - do the following:

1. Give him a wedgie.
2. Magic Marker his Weenie and Nipples
3. Stuff him into a locker.

ok, I am kidding...

Mr. Fidelbogen sir - Why did Snark take his blog down again!?!?

He keeps doing that!!!
ugh.
